Kamil Chow Home

I recommend that you feed your Chow Chow in their crate or a quiet feeding area. Serve your Chow Chow their food in a stainless steel bowl and only allow them about 15–20 minutes to finish their meal. This can help encourage healthy eating habits and prevent picky eating behaviors.
Your Chow Chow is an individual, and you will need to adjust how much you feed them based on their age, activity level, metabolism, and overall condition. They should have a visible waist when viewed from above, and you should be able to feel their ribs under a light layer of fat without seeing prominent hip bones.
Younger, more active Chow Chows and intact males often require more food than older, less active, or spayed/neutered Chow Chows. Because Chow Chows vary in size and build, food requirements can differ significantly from dog to dog. Always monitor your dog’s body condition and adjust portions as needed.
The brand and type of food that you feed your Chow Chow will also affect how much food they need to maintain a healthy weight. You should feed your Chow Chow a high-quality food that works well for both your dog and your lifestyle. What matters most is that your Chow Chow is healthy, maintaining good body condition, and thriving on their diet.
If you wish to switch foods, do so slowly over the course of 3 to 7 days. Mix a small amount of the new food with the food that your Chow Chow is currently eating. Slowly increase the amount of the new food while decreasing the amount of the previous food until your Chow Chow is eating only the new food. When changing foods, allow 30 to 60 days to evaluate how your dog responds to the new diet.
